Pay it Forward, Yo - THE PRIZE!

So, yeah, I'm about a gazillion weeks behind on this and poor Kelsey didn't even get to pick anything out, I just made it.

So anyways, here is the prize.

All rolled up

Stocked, Locked, and Ready to Go

The Goods

A crayon roll for her daughter or to give away or whatever. I personally like to color and draw, so I would keep it for myself, but I'm mean like that.

On a side note, I'll be offering crayon rolls in my Etsy shop sometime this week. I'll be making them in a number fabric and an apple/pear fabric combo with your choice of either loopy tie things or a snap strap. I just have to put a couple together and figure out pricing and a cool name for the things.

Oh yeah, I have to email Kelsey and get her address as well.

To Tide You Over

I know I don't watch much videos online, but I'm going to share mine with you regardless. Aren't I a sweetheart?

If you only pick one of my videos to ever watch, it should be this one. Elise, aka Lurk, has finally started to...well, lurch. Watch it to the end and you can hear her say and sign "all done".

And a gutsy seagull this weekend when we took our boat to Blake Island for an overnight trip on which neither girl wanted to sleep. You get a good introduction of the whole family in this short clip.

So, lemonade...

After fixing everything on the machine that I thought could be fixed, I stumbled upon a web site that talks about the bottom thread tension (which is where I was skipping stitches). ANYWAYS, long story short and word of the wise for any other sewers out there, the bottom tension can be adjusted on the BOBBIN. There is a screw on in it and for tighter tension, turn the screw to the right, and vice versus for looser. So far it is looks promising and I haven't encountered any loose stitches again.

It is just like me to complain about something and then fix it two seconds later. Don't I feel like a doofus. I do appreciate everyone's sweet words of encouragement. Even if the machine is kaput, it is a minute thing in the course of my life.

I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend.

When life hands you lemons...

Things have been pretty bleh around here. My husband has gout, I had the world's worst ever sinus headache, and my sewing machine has decided to skip stitches.

Luckily, my husband got medicine, my headache went away, but I think my sewing machine is headed for the scrap heap. We thought that it was fixed last night but it has resorted back to its shenanigans this morning. New needle, rethread, new thread, cleaning, oil, and the thing is skipping stitches. I've consulted the manual, consulted the internet, and have tried everything. I should be so "woe is me" over it, as it only cost $80 new but I sew every day and therefore...I feel a little lost without my trusty side kick.

Of course it doesn't help that I still haven't sent my Pay It Forward and I'm in the middle of about 10 other projects.

Booo.

Nice Weekend!

I hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend. It was beautiful here in the Pacific Northwest. Just gorgeous, in fact. It seems after last year's summer of no summer, we are getting a REAL summer this year. I would actually love a day of rain for my grass but I can run the sprinklers, so not a huge deal. I just have to move them around and that can be a pain! And remember to turn them off.

Sunday, my wonderful husband took Darsie to the Walmart here in town to reward her for sleeping in her own bed for five whole nights. They returned with a Cars fishing pole, tackle box, net, and sunglasses. And a Flip video camera for the big kids!

We later grabbed lunch at Popeye's and took it out to the boat. It was a beautiful day out on the water.

We met Jeff's parents later (they came into our town on their sailboat as a layover from their vacation to the San Juan Islands and Desolation Sound that they do every year. It was Jeff's dad's birthday so they all came over to the house for steaks and key lime pie.

We caught a very hilarious video of D singing "Monsters in Pants", so I'll share it with you all here. This video thing is pretty fun!

Darsie Scout

Anybody else's kids watch Max & Ruby? Well, Darsie does and she is infatuated with Bunny Scouts. Jeff had this great idea of making her a sash and giving her badges for her accomplishments...so, without further ado, let me introduce to you, Darsie Scout.

She was a willing participant in this "photo shoot", believe me.

See, now she is modeling.
dscout2

Smiling big for the camera.

And just becuse I think she is gorgeous.

Anyways, I'm going to create some "badges" to throw on this sash as soon as I think of some, ha!

Apples and Pears and Bears, Oh My!

Well, no bears. I just couldn't help myself.

I am around and reading, just busy cranking out a commissioned apron and finishing up the quilt for my father in law. I'm also trying to keep a cleaner house and enjoy the nice weather while we have it.

I'm ideating on the Pay It Forward prize and have some ideas, I just have to confirm once I get around to email.

Anyways, here is a very blurry photo of the apron I'm creating. It is fully lined because I'm a nerd like that. No pattern, sorry.

Pay it Forward, Yo - WINNER WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!

Congratulations to Kelsey, lucky number 13!

Kelsey said...

I have been trying for years to learn how to sew, but I think I'll just give up and hope I win some cool hand made things from you!

I'll shoot you an email in the next couple of days and discuss "options".

Happy Weekend everyone. Thanks for playing along!
