Conflicted.

I've been thinking about this for a long time. I use this blog to write about Darsie, her prematurity, and her resulting cerebral palsy. But that isn't what I want to be defined by, my family defined by, Darsie to be defined by, and our lives to be defined by. I understand that her cerebral palsy will have a lasting impact on our lives and that I will always think of her as my 1lb. 12ozer...but we've done a lot of growing (and grieving) over the past 2.5 years and we are more than that.

So, I'm going to expand my blog. Yes, there will always be a special place on this blog for other preemie parents and for other special kids and their families, but I want to feel free to talk about my crappy day, our pending baby, the great meal that I cooked and to not feel guilty or conflicted.

I hope this doesn't offend my two regular readers, but if it does, I'm sorry. I just can't do it anymore. I need the freedom to write whatever I want, to vent about whatever I want to vent about, and to rejoice in my daily life and the great future.

Talk about what ever you want to, it is your blog after all. I don't just discuss Evan's heart defect and stroke there is so much more to life than that.

I like the idea. I think it's nice for a blog to have a particular IDEA for basic foundation and structure, but then to feel free to fling out all over the place. Mine started out as a twin blog, and then I realized I didn't want to write about twins all the time.

I've recently decided the same thing -- and yes, the bulk of my blog is Jack-related but I started blogging about American Idol, the new baby, etc. I totally understand the not wanting to be defined by the disability. I think you should go for it! Blog whatever, whenever! :) :) :)

Look Shannon! You have at least FOUR regular readers:)

I won't be offended at all. It's your blog, and you should write about whatever you want! I'll still be reading... As long as you promise to update us on how Darsie is doing from time to time.

Looking forward to meeting the new baby too:)

Commenter #5 to say - Good for you! I agree, I started my blog to talk about my son's special needs, but I also realized I have special needs I need to discuss from time to time too. Sometimes I feel guilty that I'm NOT talking about him enough, because I sense I'm typecast. But if anyone has a problem with that, they are welcome to stop reading.

You are a complex woman with a complicated life. Sometimes one area or another will be the focus, but sometimes you just want to talk about the new shoes you just bought. And I say, talk away!

Make that six regular readers! I check in to see how you, DH and Darsie are doing and what is going on with your life. Darsie's prematurity and CP certainly affect your life and, therefore, I do want to hear about them. But I would also love to hear about that great meal you cooked (especially if you share the recipe) and the guy who cut you off in traffic and the lady who went through the express line at the grocery store with a cartload of stuff. It's your blog--talk about what is important and what is happening to you and your family. I'll still be reading!

I'm happy to read whatever you want to write about!

If the inspector gives you the green light, I want to know. If you have a trying day with Darsie, I want to know. Comments on pregnancy (again)? News about Elise? Great tip for cleaning? Whatever! I will still read!

Keep it up!
