In an effort to be a better poster.....

In an effort to be a better poster and a negligent parent, I share with you...

My adorable daughters.

highway

Nothing like a little quality time together, unlike shopping today where I GRACIOUSLY allowed them to share a car shopping cart and the older daughter kept smacking the younger daughter on top of the head.

Of course, the baby thought it was HILARIOUS.

It was worth it though, everyone was smiling when they saw these two pranksters driving a shopping cart around the store.

Now I just have to settle my nerves.

Pay it Forward, Yo

Swistle is launching a humongous group Pay it Forward effort and yours truly has decided to join.

Anyways, here is the jist.

1. It starts today (the 30th of June).

2. Enter by leaving a comment. Anything. Winner will be chosen randomly by the random number generator.

3. Contest ends on July 4th at midnight.

4. We have house guests so the package won't be mailed out for a week or two after the contest ends.

5. The winner will need to hold their own Pay it Forward contest upon receipt of the aforementioned contest "prize". It doesn't need to be fancy or expensive or hand made, just something to keep the good will of giveaways and contests going.

Who doesn't love a contest?

So, you are probably wondering what you will win. I can't tell you because I DON'T KNOW. The winner will need to correspond with me via e-mail so I can figure that out. I will tell you will be hand sewn. It could be a felt pizza, an apron, a tote bag, a crayon roll, etc. etc. etc..

Feeling Blue

blue

This is the result of two itty bitty teeny weeny animal cookies. You know, the ones covered in a coating that are being hawked for the Fourth?

Cause you know, you are supposed to feel patriotic when you eat cookies.

After a good scrubbing.

And not that you wanted to know, but the next day, the blue revisited. No photos taken.

Another Weekend, Another Quilt

Whew, I cannot keep up with life lately let alone a blog (or two).

This weekend we did a bunch of stuff around the house, took the boat out (which we've decided to sell if anyone is interested in a 1996 Bayliner 2858 - photos on Flickr), sewed a crayon roll and chalk pouch, went to a really awesome birthday party (which the crayon roll and pouch were for), and quilted. WHEW!

Here is my quilt top progression:

I just had to share these photos

Here is the Preeclampsia Quilt (yes, it deserves to be capitalized after the uncountable hours and stress it has caused me).

I swear this is the last you will hear about it, too. It is in the mail.

The front. It is actually bigger than this looks...probably about 2.5'x4' or so.

The back. It really shows off the quilting that I did. A LOT of quilting.

She isn't crawling or pulling up, yet, but she sure can scooch on her belly.

Banner Info

Sarah over at No Whey Mama asked me to tell you all about my new and improved banner (which I still need to figure out the weird wrap thing happening with the border that the template I'm using uses, but whatever. That is what programmer husbands are for, right?).

Once upon a time, I went to college and earned myself a degree in Graphic Design. I worked for approximately two (maybe it was three) years, had a baby, and have stayed home every since. I do a little freelance graphic design (mainly for my husband and the company he works for) here and there but nothing major. Every once in awhile, I get a bug in my butt (or tushy as D would say) and do something for myself (it is kind of like sewing for myself - NEVER HAPPENS).

Anyways, I doodled some flowers on a piece of paper and scanned it. I used Photoshop (my computer is very old [it is sad when something you bought in 2002 is so very out of date] so this is probably version 1 or something [ok, maybe not THAT old but it is out of date] and used two copies of my doodle along with a font called High Velocity from dafonts.com (great resource for fonts). It is also the font I use for my Etsy stuff. I love it.

I like orange and blue together. I've been meaning to do a quilt in those colors but please reference the fact that I never do any sewing for myself thing that I mentioned above.

All Better

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and thoughts. Darsie has made it through the stomach bug just fine. There were a few times that both Jeff and I were extremely worried about her and were on the verge of taking her in and then she would perk up. Sick young kids are one of the toughest things, ever. They can go to fine to bad in the matter of seconds (and vice versus, of course). Unpredictable little buggers.

I've got a list 18-million items long of things that need to be done, so I'm going to sign off now. I'll be back, soon, I promise!

The light!!

Last week both girls came down with a cold. D's progressed into a puking, spots on face, stomach bug of sorts. I think we are over the hump as of today. Please, let the girls be well.
