Hip Hip Hooray!

Hooray, our insurance has approved Darsie's upcoming Botox shots. In fact, they've approved TWO separate procedures within a six month time period. How is that for awesome? It is scheduled for mid-March and we are very excited to see if it can help Miss Darsie. Her physical therapist is also going to try to get the approval to recast her for a new DAFO brace a week or so after her first round of Botox.

This video was taken in October, but it shows pretty well how Darsie's right foot turns in on itself when she walks:

The thought behind her Botox is to paralyze the muscles that have become too strong to allow the weakened muscles a bit of time to strengthen. Hopefully it will help her gait improve so she can walk more naturally.

That's great that they approved it. I'm a big proponent of Botox, Max has had it several times and, in fact, we think he's due to get some in his left hand, his thumbs are tight, I'll post about that soon. That stuff works.

That is SO great that they approved it! Yay!

Darsie is such a cutie. She looks just like you.

The butt-scooching at the end made me laugh: Let me show you MY walkin'!

She's such a cutie--I love how Eliseis trying to get in on the show! I can't wait to hear how the whole botox experience goes. We're in the complete opposite boat since Charlie is just crazy loose, but I'm still very interested to see how well the botox works.

My little sister has CP and had this procedure done for YEARS. It really DID help so much! Although, unfortunately, the shots were very painful for her. She eventually had a pump put in that basically does the same thing, but with different medication, but while she did the Botox, it definitely worked!

Hopefully, you will have the same results! I'll definitely be keeping you in my thoughts!

Wow, it's amazing how much Darsie and Daniel look alike in terms of walking. I have to say that in our case, Botox didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. But again, that's just us. A LOT of the families I talk to have had awesome results with the injections, so in my humble opinion, they're definitely worth a try. I hope you see good things with them, and I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" video. Good luck!
