What to do with Art?

I love Darsie's artwork that she is bringing home from preschool but what do I do with it? I can't keep all of it as she is a very creative and productive little girl but it KILLS me to throw it away.

Any cute ideas?

Depending on the project you could...
use it as wrapping paper or
keep a collection of it for awhile and then take pictures of each piece and make a collage of the pics that you could frame to keep and of course keep the ones you "love"

I've heard people who always take a picture of it. They leave it on the fridge for a few days or week (depending on how many she does), then throws them out. You'll always have a photo to keep, and of course you can save the really special ones.

I third the picture idea. We actually do not have too many of the boy's scribble pictures. They crumple them up when they are done coloring and toss it in the trash. Lol!

You could save the favorites in a scrapbook, use some as wrapping paper, mail some to relatives, or frame some of the best as gifts. You could also laminate some and use them as placemats

Whenever there's something that has sentimental value, but I don't want it to take up space, I take a picture of it!

I have a couple of ideas. Owen is a little artist himself. He has his very own scrapbook where I put the origanal picture at. He is very proud of it and loves to share it with everyone. A second thing I do is take a picture of all of them and set the pictures as my screensaver.

I like the photo idea! I've also seen special hinged picture frames that are deep enough to fill with layers of artwork. You just keep putting the most recent one in front.

Another vote for pictures of it (I actually scan stuff). S is VERY PROLIFIC - it's normal to cover every flat surface in the kitchen during a normal painting session. So I don't make any effort to keep every single thing she produces, but the ones that I think are cool/interesting/whatever I keep and scan.

I also think pictures are a great idea, you can always put them in a binder or album. You can also make an easy portfolio for the special (flat) pieces, but scoring a piece of poster board and folding it in half. You can hold it closed with a binder clip. They have tall boxes at teacher stores for holding charts and things, several portfolios would fit in those. If you don't have storage for all of that, then the pictures of the art would probably be easiest!

Hi!
I realize this is a VERY old post, but since I'm sure your girl is still creating tonnes of art I thought I'd add an idea:
My mom used to hang up everything we brought home for a short period of time. There was a designated wall in the house to display our art (some even in cheap frames, others hanging from string hung along the wall). Once it was full, she would take down some of the 'older' things and put many (probably her favourites) in a giant sketch/scrapbook.
Hope that helps!

My daughter has always been an artist. I used to save all my favorites ... 5 a week or so. But, with all the new technology, we now scan everything. When she turns 15 next year, I will be giving her a book of her art work. All the scanned pictures will be made into a photo book using blurb.com

They make great hardbound books!
