Banner Info

Sarah over at No Whey Mama asked me to tell you all about my new and improved banner (which I still need to figure out the weird wrap thing happening with the border that the template I'm using uses, but whatever. That is what programmer husbands are for, right?).

Once upon a time, I went to college and earned myself a degree in Graphic Design. I worked for approximately two (maybe it was three) years, had a baby, and have stayed home every since. I do a little freelance graphic design (mainly for my husband and the company he works for) here and there but nothing major. Every once in awhile, I get a bug in my butt (or tushy as D would say) and do something for myself (it is kind of like sewing for myself - NEVER HAPPENS).

Anyways, I doodled some flowers on a piece of paper and scanned it. I used Photoshop (my computer is very old [it is sad when something you bought in 2002 is so very out of date] so this is probably version 1 or something [ok, maybe not THAT old but it is out of date] and used two copies of my doodle along with a font called High Velocity from dafonts.com (great resource for fonts). It is also the font I use for my Etsy stuff. I love it.

I like orange and blue together. I've been meaning to do a quilt in those colors but please reference the fact that I never do any sewing for myself thing that I mentioned above.

Wow! Thanks for being so prompt with a reply!

Sooo...have you ever considered hiring yourself out to do banners for other bloggers???

I'm only fast when avoiding housework, ha!

I've never thought of doing anything like that. Every since having babies, I've been in sort of a creative funk that is fading but very slowly.

It is pretty awesome.

I'm sorry that you have a creative funk, but hello! kids must sap at least half of your available energy in the first year. The second year is WAY better--says the girl who's in her first week of year two.

I do wish we were closer, so we could have some play groups--I promise that I would only oohh and ahh over Elise's amazing abilities.

Great post! I am sure loads of people will find this helpful. I know I did. I really have a tough time figuring out what to use for a banner sometimes.

Orange and blue- great combination of colors. Would be fascinating.
