She sleeps through everything...

D is sleeping and I want her to wake up and PLAY!

Do you think it is cute? Jeff came up with the idea to make felt pizza yesterday when D was ripping apart the construction paper one she made in school. We are going to open an Etsy shop for felt food toys, so keep your eyes peeled for updates.

Shower Experiment - Days 3 & 4

I'm really hoping for a vast improvement in the next few days because I feel like the cleanliness of the shower is going downhill quickly. It may be that the accumulation of preschooler fingerprints on the outside of the door is throwing false results, too. However, if this stuff can cut through the pink scum that my water leaves everywhere, it is a miracle.

I will say that on the faucet handle, I think the hard water spots have disappeared.
So, I forgot to take photos of day 3, so you are spared.

At the end of the 14 days, I'm going to scrub it until it bleeds with oxyclean and we will see the difference.

But, here is DAY 4:

On another note - preschoolers. Mine still wants to take only baby tylenol, not the ones for kids her age/size. What to do? How did you "graduate" your kids? She won't even do the meltaways, instead grabs her tongue like it is on fire.

Shower Experiment - Days 1 & 2

I haven't forgotten about the Shower Experiment, I SWEAR! We left the girls with a set of grandparents and hit the road for Ocean Shores for a couple of days last week and adding in Easter, I am woefully behind on this.

The Shower Cleaner is easy to operate. You push the button on the front and it beeps for a few seconds and then it spins around a couple of times and sprays the cleanser. In our shower, it sprays about...oh 5 1/2 feet up. I don't get out my measuring tape, but it sprays taller than me.

I *think* it is starting to work, at least we are seeing a new water beading pattern on the glass.

Anyways, photographic evidence of...something?

IEP Update

All is well with Miss E. OT was recommended but we are going to just meet once a month to help me think up ideas of activities that we can do with Elise at home. I will be meeting with Darsie's old Tiny Tots teacher, which is exciting as she is such a nice woman.

Whew, what a relief!

Before she turns 11 months

Elise - 10 Months

We have the IEP to find out all the results of her testing tomorrow at 3. I know in my heart and mind that she is fine and just a slow poke developmentally but I am worried that the professionals will see otherwise. Isn't she beautiful?

We've met with the Early Intervention folks a couple of times to test Elise and both times she hasn't been very cooperative. She is definitely ELISE and not just a baby. She fits into our family so well since we are all bull-headed, obstinate, and opinionated.

Here she is the on the quilt top I made for Jeff for his birthday, yeah, the birthday was back in January. it is now sandwiched with the back, hand basted, and the machine quilting has begun.

The Great '08 Shower Experiment - Day Zero

As part of BzzAgent, I've been given the chance to try products, evaluate them, and spread the word about them (I previously was given the UV Sanitizer by Sonicare).

This time around, the product is the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner with Dual Sprayers. I'm REALLY excited to give this a go since cleaning my shower just isn't in the top ten list of things I love to do, want to do, or even care to do. I'm also hesitant to buy products of this nature since I don't know how well they work and I hate wasting money.

To truly test the cleaner, I let my shower get pretty gross. I wanted to make it a true test, so over the next 14 days or so, hopefully you will see my humdrum shower turn into a sparkly Barbie palace. Or just get really clean with no rag/windex time on my behalf.

BEHOLD! The box containing the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner
The product in the box.

Installation was a complete snap. You put four batteries in the bottom of the cleaner (it even has a diagram on the cleaner...not printed but permanently there, raised plastic), snap the hanger onto the back, hang it on the shower head, and pop in a bottle of the cleaner. And viola!

Cleaner installed and ready to go.

And on to photos of my shower, day zero before ANY use of the Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner. I'm going to try and do my best to do the same photo each day of this experiment.

28

Just this and a little of that

I taught myself to sew. I probably am not very good at it, but I don't know any better if I do. It is relaxing to me, though.

We are (hopefully) going out on the boat overnight this weekend. We are planning to meet my inlaws at a little place called Penrose Point.

I could eat turkey sandwiches for every meal, even breakfast, In fact, I have had turkey sandwiches for breakfast at least three times this week, including today.

It was my birthday yesterday, hello 28!

I went out to coffee, lunch, and dinner yesterday. Lady of leisure.

Happy weekend everyone!

Sew-a-long?

Is anybody interested in sewing with me? What I mean really is,

A. Would anybody be interested in me posting entries with tutorials on how to create little creatures (some like the cat I did for Elise, or the owl backpack I did for Darsie)

B. A longer project, perhaps a modern take on the old fashioned quilt?

We could create a flikr group to share the results.

In an attempt..

In an attempt to not become THAT mom (you all know who I'm talking about, the mom who wears jeans, dinghy tennis shoes, and has stringy hair in pony tail), I bought some new shoes this weekend to replace the dinghy tennis shoes (sneakers, whatever they are called). I got low top brown converse from Fred Meyer's. I have coveted these shoes for..well, a few days. Last Fridy I had gone to the store for milk and decided to try shoes on, too. For many months, I had wanted these low top converse with birds on them, but even the smallest women's size is TOO BIG. BUT, the boys size 2 fits like a charm.

Oh yeah, I also took a shower.

Blog Ennui

Ok, so the definition of ennui doesn't fit my feelings, but I love how it so often misused that I had to do my own version.

I am at a loss as to the direction of this blog. It started as blog about cerebral palsy and Darsie but obviously, that has changed. It changed mainly because Darsie's CP isn't very severe and
I don't want it to define who she is or who we are as a family. I also don't want to get into the whole "woe is me" attitude.

So, it has developed into a mish mash of crap. My interests are my family, cooking, and crafting. I'd like to focus on each but how?

Organization has never been my strong point. I'll get to it eventually. I'd like to do a custom design for this blog, but that too has been put aside for a really long time.

I have another sewing book to review, which I will do in the next few days. It is perfect for those people who want to start sewing or really who are getting back into sewing or who just want a bunch of really quick projects.
