22 Weeks!

First off, aren't ultrasound pictures kind of scary? I don't know what it is but the weird skull pictures ALWAYS freak me out!

Had another OB appointment yesterday and everything went well. Blood pressure measured in at 122/75 after running up and down a flight of stairs and dealing with a Darsie who wanted to play with the hazardous waste container and didn't want to be held. Urine was fine as well. Heartbeat was 142 bpm.

I had been feeling a tearing pain on my left side when I picked D up or held her, so I asked about it and my OB confirmed it was probably round ligaments. She said to keep holding Darsie as long as I wanted to. I also asked about travel since Darsie was born at 28 weeks. She said I knew the risks of travelling and it was up to me but as long as my tests were all coming back normal, I could go and do whatever I want really but to know where the nearest hospital was just in case. We don't have any crazy trips planned but we are hoping to go to the coast for a weekend before the baby makes her appearance.

Did I mention that we made a decision on a name? Our newest little girl will be named Elise Adelaine.

I will update with ultrasound pics from last week as soon as my scanner finishes up, too. Also, a big Darsie update coming later!

Update on the baby!

We went in for a 21-week ultrasound today and the baby looked great! Heartbeat was 146 bpm, growth was great, and the little bugger weighed 15 ounces. We were also able to find out that we will be adding another little lady to the family! I can't believe that Darsie is going to have a baby sister!

Blood pressure has been behaving. I am not taking it daily as my doctor kind of laughed at me when I told her I was. I'm taking a dose of low-dose aspirin and my prenatals daily and trying to eat healthy and drink lots of water. This little one is soooo active, even the ultrasound tech commented on it.

Darsie is very leery of becoming a big sister. When asked if she wants a baby, she always says no. Any good books or suggestions on warming her up to the idea?

18 weeks, whah????

I don't how it has managed to be 18 weeks into this pregnancy, but somehow it has. CRAZY! Anyways, all is well with the baby and with me. BP continues to behave itself. The reading at the doctor's office was 108/68, I've gained a total of 9 pounds so far, and the heartbeat was 142. We scheduled the next ultrasound for the morning of the 29th, so hoping everything continues to look good there.

Darsie is NOT so sure about this "baby" that we keep talking about. Anybody have any good recommendations on preparing a young child on a sibling's arrival?

Darsie is also really starting to like the idea of potty training. We aren't pushing her to do anything but simply ask her if she wants to sit on the potty. Yesterday, she said she did and she actually peed in the potty, a major first! She has pooped in the potty plenty, but never peed.

I never in a million years thought I would ever write a blog about pooping and peeing, especially in a "potty". But here I am.

There is no shame in motherhood, right?

First Ultrasound!

We had our first ultrasound this past week and the baby looks perfect. My due date was moved up to the 11th (one whole day!) but we are just happy that the baby looks great!

Baby Update - Heartbeat!

I finally had my first OB appointment for the new baby on Monday (so, approximately 13 weeks). We got to hear the heartbeat which is always amazing, no matter how many times you have heard it. My OB calculated it to be at 150 bpm. My blood pressure is holding steady and looking good as well. I go in for an ultrasound tomorrow to really date the pregnancy, but I'm pretty sure my dates on on.
